Set the standard for the industry. Become an APO.

When you become an Accredited Parking Organization (APO), your organization earns industry-wide recognition and greater credibility.

About the Program

APO is a designation for organizations that have achieved a comprehensive standard of excellence.

Launched in 2015 by IPMI, the accreditation recognizes best practices in responsible parking management and operations, access management, customer service, professional development, security, sustainability and more.

To become an APO, an organization must demonstrate its commitment to ongoing evaluation and improvement of program outcomes through the implementation of industry best practices. The APO with Distinction designation is reserved for organizations exceeding the standard.

How Best-of-Class Parking & Mobility Organizations Demonstrate Excellence

Why become an APO? Let’s hear from those who have earned accreditation.

“We were initially apprehensive to apply – this is such an industry honor, and the criteria seemed overwhelming! But everyone at IPMI was encouraging and supportive, and we achieved APO with Distinction in 2023. The acknowledgement from peers and industry professionals alone has been priceless; I encourage anyone in the industry considering applying to do so – you won’t regret it!”

Associate Director, University of Southern California, Los Angeles

“The APO designation process was very intensive and required time to complete. The exhaustive nature of the program touched all bases of our parking operation. Thankfully, while I was certain we were operating at a high standard, the program revealed needs. I’m glad that the Allentown Parking Authority engaged in this process as it confirmed that our operation was top notch, but it revealed opportunities to get better as well.”

Jon Haney, CAPP /
Executive Director, Allentown Parking Authority

“When we first thought about pursuing APO, we had gone to conference sessions and webinars where others had described the process. It made us realize that we needed to be organized, but also there was an opportunity to get many in our operation involved, with a common goal of becoming APO. As we went through the APO checklist and application, it benefitted us by making sure we documented many items that we may not have previously. although we knew we did it. Being recognized as APO is a great honor, a sign to our administraiton that we are operating in a professional manner, but it also showed our staff how everything everyone does plays a part in performing at this high level.”

Josh Cantor, CAPP /
Director, Parking & Transportation, George Mason University

“Our APO status allows our community to know we follow a defined set of standards, and that we are committed to providing the best service.”

Perry Eggleston, DPA, CAPP /
Executive Director, University of California, Davis

“Earning our APO with Distinction has established the Pittsburgh Parking Authority as an industry leader following the high comprehensive standards and best practices established by IPMI. It provides us with the credibility we need to ensure our services to the public meet or exceed the industry standards.”

David Onorato, CAPP /
Executive Director, Pittsburgh Parking Authority
